Aizawl, the 26th January, 2024: The 2nd Mizoram Startup Competition 'KAWTCHHUAH - 2024' organized by the Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department for Govt. ITI pass-outs), conducted during January 23-25, 2024 was concluded yesterday at Govt. ITI Auditorium, Aizawl. LESDE Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar graced the closing function as the Chief Guest. Minister handed over 112 essential equipments worth Rs 44.47 lakhs to ITI Aizawl Principal Pu Vanlalhruaia Sailo. LESDE Minister was accompanied by Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) Chairman Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte.

While praising the performance of Govt. ITI Aizawl, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar mentioned that 4767 students have graduated from ITI and 50.61% of them have stable employment. He reiterated that the Government is committed to supporting the entrepreneurs and will implement the 'Bana Kaih' Policy. He advised the trainees to be punctual and spend more time on work, "To be successful, you have to be different from others and use your time wisely", he added.

The LESDE Minister said that ITI students should remember that they are entering ITI to learn skills that are important for employment. He advised the students training under various trades to focus on hard work and perseverance. He also encouraged those who have not achieved success to continue their efforts. He congratulated the successful participants and encouraged them to use them for their own work. He advised the graduates of ITI not to make money easily and to earn their living through real skills. He said that the Government is always open to those who do their best and those who want to succeed will be given priority.

KAWTCHHUAH-2024 is being implemented under the Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) project of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). For KAWTCHHUAH -2024, there were 30 eligible participants. The competition was divided into two stages; Skill Competency Test and Business Plan were examined by Panel Members. Fifteen (15) winners were awarded citation and cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- each, a total of Rs. 15,00,000/- was distributed. LESDE Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, who was the chief guest, presented the awards. The Department will also provide training and closely monitor their activities.

STRIVE has various components, of which Result Area-1 is STRIVE selected ITI for Govt. ITI Aizawl has prepared an Institute Strategic Plan (ISP) approved by the DGT and allocated Rs 200 lakhs for the expenditure. So far, Rs 114.40 lakhs has been released and Rs 84.01 lakhs has been spent on the upgradation of the ITI. Under STRIVE, an Institute Management Committee (IMC) has been established to manage the ITI. Yesterday, a total of 112 items of equipment were donated to ITI students to conduct their studies with better equipment.

At the function, Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, Secretary, LESDE Department welcomed the participants. Pi Angela Zothanpuii, Director, LESDE Department gave brief report and on behalf of the judges, Dr. James LT Thanga, Associate Professor, MZU explained the inspection process. In the function, KAWTCHHUAH -2022 award winners' journey video clip was viewed to inspire the gathering. Pu K. Lalhmingliana, Addl. Secretary, LESDE Department proposed vote of thanks concluding the function.
