Aizawl the 18th March 2023 : Labour, Employment Skill Development & Entrepreneurship(LESDE) Deptt. organised a One-Day Workshop on “Promotion of Apprenticeship Training” at Govt. ITI Aizawl Auditorium as a part of outreach programme targeted at youths and business establishments of the state. The Chief Guest Shri Lalramsanga Sailo IRS, Secretary, LESDE Deptt. spoke about the importance of Apprenticeship Training for the students/graduates of ITI and the Mizo youths in general with the aim of imparting employable skill sets for secured livelihood and the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat through Kaushal Vikas programmes. He urged the trainee student trainees to show dedication, perseverance and discipline to be successful apprentices. The auspicious day was also attended by Shri Ganesh Chandra Deka, Deputy Director, Regional Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) who elaborated on the important facets of Apprenticeship and chaired the Workshop. As per the Apprentices Act, 1961, an apprentice is a person who has entered into a contract of apprenticeship with the employer for apprenticeship training under the Act in an industry or establishment, under a contract of apprenticeship which consists of :- a) basic training component and b) on-the-job-training (OJT)/practical training at workplace.
On this occasion, a Performance Based Grant Agreement (MoU) was signed by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), LESDE Department. and Automobile Dealers Association of Mizoram (ADAM), the first Industrial Cluster under MSDE in Mizoram. Rs 1 Crore has been sanctioned by MSDE for the cluster. The Tripartite Agreement is initially for a period three years based on the performance against proposed funding milestones whose main aim is to utilize fully the facilities available in industry for imparting practical training with the aim to meet the requirements of skilled manpower for the industries. As per the MoU, ITI graduates and selected youths of Mizoram will be given employment opportunities as apprentices during their training period and will receive stipend under this program. Target of the industry cluster is to enrol 40 apprentices every year, i.e., a total of 120 apprentices in three years. Shri Lalhmangaiha, Chairman, ADAM laid down the proposed plan of action in his speech.
The inauguration ceremony of the workshop was chaired by Shri K. Lalhmingliana, Addl. Secy, LESDE Deptt. and was attended by representatives from RDSDE, LESDE Deptt. Officials, ADAM members, All Mizoram Workshop Association Members and students from ITI. Smt Angela Zothanpuii, Director, LESDE Deptt. delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the inauguration ceremony after which the workshop on “Apprenticeship Awareness Program” commenced .
