Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department (LESDE) and Common Service Centre's (CSCs) along with Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) jointly organized e-Shram Registration Camp for Unorganized Workers in five (5) districts namely - Mamit, Saitual, Serchhip, Lawngtlai, and Khawzawl on 31st August 2023 (Thursday) and in Hnahthial on 25th August 2023 (Friday). The organizing team for the registration camps was divided into five teams headed by Deputy Director and Employment Officer in Mamit District. Labour Officer and Assistant Labour Officer in Serchhip District. District Labour & Employment Officer (DLEO) Aizawl in Saitual District. DLEO, Siaha in Lawngtlai District. DLEO, Champhai in Khawzawl District and DLEO Lunglei in Hnahthial District.
On this occasion, over 3,000 people turned up and 1,580 eligible unorganized workers were registered through the CSCs on the e-Shram Portal (National Database for Unorganized Workers) which was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on 26th August 2021 to aid in the delivery various Social Security programmes and schemes implemented by the Central and State Government for the Welfare of the unorganized workers.
Furthermore, the eligible beneficiaries who were unable to be registered on the day of registration camp were also informed about the possibility of registration through CSCs located in every area (village) across all district, using their Aadhaar Card and Bank Passbook.
As anticipated, a significant number of eligible beneficiaries attended the registration camps to register, especially those who are unable to do so online with the aid of the YMA representatives in each District in mobilizing the entitled beneficiaries. The event also helped raise awareness among the general public and helped them understand what they are entitled to despite the issues of network problems of electricity. (It may be noted that since e-SHRAM registration drive was carried out in Hnahthial District in the month of April, there is significantly less number of registrations in Hnahthial District as compared to the other districts.)
